What "Envirdian" Means
The name Envirdian brings together two ideas.The first is the environment and the second is the guardian. Envirdian represents a new generation of learners who do not only study the world but learn to care for it with understanding and responsibility. It is a name that reflects curiosity, empathy and the courage to protect our planet. It reminds us that sustainability is not a subject. It is a way of thinking and a way of living.
The Challenge
Across the world there is a clear gap between what education policies expect and what actually happens in the classroom. UNESCO reports that 70 percent of young people cannot clearly explain climate disruption, and many feel uncertain about the way sustainability is taught. In Sweden the challenge is similar. Although sustainability is part of the national curriculum, 88 percent of teachers say they do not have enough support or digital tools to teach it effectively. As a result, lessons often remain theoretical, and pupils struggle to connect environmental issues to their daily lives. Most existing digital tools do not address this gap. They focus on information rather than understanding, and rarely link learning to real world responsibility or action.
STORY
Envirdian began in Sweden inside real classrooms where teachers asked how they could help pupils understand the world rather than only read about it. Their questions became the starting point of a new approach to learning. Through conversations with teachers, observations in schools and years of research, Envirdian took shape as a bridge between knowledge and responsibility. It was created to make sustainability visible and to give pupils the tools to understand how their choices matter. Today Envirdian continues to grow with the support of educators and communities who believe that learning can inspire care for the planet.
